Stuff Auditions/My Character

 Originally I was going to audition for the role of Matt and AJ, but when practising the audition piece with people, I wasn't a fan of how I portrayed Matt and enjoyed AJ much more as a character. I feel like I haven't played your stereotypical troublesome child whose lost and just looking for a quick shag. 

Monday 5th February

For my audition I went in alone to start off since it was callback day but I was sick on the day when the first round of auditions were done. When I went into the audition I grabbed a chair and made the scene on how I visioned it. I went through my lines adding a bit of flair to the character when he talks about himself. I also noted to myself that when AJ is talking to Matt his love language for Matt is either when he swears at him, so I do it in a soft but awkward jokey tone, but also when he's taking the mick out of Matt to annoy him. With AJ being very open as well, I decided to rub my hands through my hair and on my body when he mentions about having to rub the cream everywhere. 

I got asked to go through it again but this time was directed to slow down when it comes to big important parts, like when he's talking about the cream he gets to treat his crabs. I slowed it down and even got a laugh out of the directors when it came to that part because this time I hit the joke on the head since I slowed down. 

I got call backed on the same day to do the same scene this time but with somebody else as Matt, I had Ben as my Matt. I tried the scene a little different this time by standing up and moving to the seat after Matt stops talking about panda's. This is when the scene starts for the audition piece and I felt the chemistry was there with the two characters and it was fun to try it with someone else who was going for Matt as I got to experiment around a bit more with the lines.

So I got the character of AJ and did a development character sheet on him just to understand him a little more and show that I do know the character as a whole.

Unit 9 Task 1 - First Year Journey

Throughout my journey in first year, I have played a vast array of characters which have both developed my current skill set, all having types of different ranges to them. When I first started the course however, I was a very shy person who hadn't really opened up to anyone and didn't know what I would be getting myself into with this industry but I knew it was what I wanted to do. Audition Process - Unit 12 extended project

Audition The audition process for One Flew Over was different this time around because instead of doing a monologue from the script, for the certain character we wanted, we had to make our own acting CV's as well as get updated head shots and find our own monologues. My monologue ended up being from a script called 'Peoples, places and things,' this wasn't the first monologue I had in mind though. The first monologue I was thinking about doing was Joey's monologue from Jim Cartwright's 'road' script. My main reason for steering away from this monologue was because I was having a hard time connecting with the piece and understanding it. I ended up asking around if anyone had good ways to look for monologues from contemporary pieces as I wanted mine to be from a stage show. I got some websites sent to me from a friend last year who was on our course and that's how I found the right monologue that was exactly what I wanted and could connect with as well

Unit 9 Task 4 - 2 Year Evaluation

In my year one journey I mentioned about things that I could work on / improve and range of which roles I haven't really had to express yet. We started off the second year with a bunch of improvisation warm-ups to get us ready for ghost light tours: a night with Burke and Hare. For this year of ghost light we started off strong, by devising and researching for the show, we were in groups and would have to get our own information that we could incorporate into the show. This was already more than what we did last year as we came up with our own ideas but we didn't go into the level of detail like this year. We worked on duologues and started off with looking for Shakespeare monologues for Universities and we all had our own directing projects we were apart of. We also got told that for our Christmas show this year it would be a musical, so already what I wanted to work on / improve in second year was underway.
