Unbroken

Monday 27th February 2023

I got told about my roll for Unbroken weeks prior so I decided to print off my scene and highlight all my lines so it was easier for me to learn them. I first had 4 days to learn my lines, but the filming day got put back to the 27th of February the day we came back from half term. So I had an entire week off to learn them. I got familiar with the lines and was ready for Monday but because I hadn't had a chance to go through the scene with the actors I was finding it hard to keep the constituency going of knowing the lines. I got told on Sunday 26th that my costume I needed would be a plain black shirt and plain black jeans since I was in a coffee shop. When we were on location the staff were nice enough to allow us to use their aprons as long as we didn't get the logo into shot so we had to wear them around the waist. We had a couple of run throughs of just going over the lines together then we got up and got ready to learn what actions we would be doing. I opened up the mini fridge next to the coffee machine and pretended to be fiddling around with something in there like I'm trying to fix it. I would then turn around while still fiddling to give my lines to Charley just so that I wasn't throwing them away and my face was visible. My role in the scene was to collapse because my character has suffers from heart attacks, but in this scene he had been working himself too hard and hadn't had much to eat so the collapse could be down to fatigue, I know this because I say them as part of my lines. The cue for me to move to the back of the room was when I say my last line of "Ill be back in 10 minutes" that's when I go grab a glass of water but I accidentally in one of the takes pick the glass up with my left hand whereas in the other takes I always did it with my right. I also struggled with remembering lines when it came to it, even though I knew the lines when they said action I kept getting muddled up and stuttering my lines out or my mind would just go blank and I would forget them. It was also hard to keep up the constituency of falling over the same time every way because I needed to make it real that I had collapsed. The cue for me to start making my way back to the front of the kitchen was when Riley said "Im only joking" her last line then the cue for me to collapse was when Riley ended that line saying "thank you" to Mia. We also did closeups of characters of actions they were doing or different angles to get them into shot so that it flowed smoothly. We did multiple angles and close ups of characters like when Mia runs through the door after I collapse, or when Riley runs to the back of the kitchen and kneels next to me or when I was trying to fix the coffee machine and Riley was cleaning down the counter. My last part of the scene was when Riley helps me up and walks me out of the kitchen and the end of my last line is "Me and Riley didn't have much lunch its probably just that" that's when I get help standing back up and leaving the room, Im also replying to Mia with that last line telling her to be daft because shes asks if she should call an ambulance.
