Assignment 3 - Task 2 - Creating Our Character's World
Kobi
My opinion on Kobi when he's younger is he's sort of see's his friends as people who give him the attention that he craves, because it's said in the script that 13 year old Kobi loves an audience. He's kind of put in the situation of wrong place, wrong time with the friends he has chosen to be with. He's also got a strange upbringing because there is no information on his parent's, his Nan is the only person he has from when he's 13 all the way up to when he's 18. Due to his upbringing and the friend's he's chose he used to steal things and always speak to try and get a reaction out of everyone. He is also scared of losing his friend's because he doesn't want to lose the attention he gains from them so like on scene 8 when they're all arguing about whose filming and the slime being solid he puts himself in the middle of it to try and avert away from all the arguing and continue with the task on hand. He doesn't trust Tom Joy at all, as that's also one of his lines he says after they have all ran away from the Ansten house and when and if he gets a chance he will try and take the mick out of him, like when he finds out he's not going to the party he reacts in a way to annoy Tom but also get a laugh out of everyone else. But when he's older he feels more sympathetic towards Tom, since he is the only one that ends up reaching out because he believes in forgiveness now shown in the line, "Do not judge and you will not be judged. Do not condemn and you will not be condemned. Forgive and you will be forgiven." The reason he believes more in forgiveness now instead of when he was younger was because hes matured a lot more growing up as his Nan took him to church everyday after the incident. That could be down to him wanting to let go of all the guilt he felt and try and forgive himself (but murder is a cardinal sin). He can still be forgiven but it would take more time. His Nan is also the only person he has left, his parents are never really mentioned so it could be left up to speculation on where they are and why he lives with his Nan. A lot of why he matured growing up as well could be down to he had to grow up faster than everyone else since in the present day his Nan does have dementia and shes causing a lot of money problems for them which is also why he takes a bit of an interest into the option of doing the podcast as it would help financially towards the situation with his Nan. Altogether, I still don't think the money would be enough to make him relive the nightmare they all had undergone.
