Lonely Hearts Character

Wednesday 21st September 2022 For our first lonely hearts lesson we started off with getting a real-life advertisement that had been slightly changed to help us as well. These advertisements were published in their local newspaper, which showed how desperate my character was. I also got the example from reading my prompt that I had to be a nice genuine guy, that was filled up with all this sadness since being recently divorced. My character was in his early 40s and was looking for a sensible woman to travel with and fill that loneliness he has since his wife left him.  We were then tasked with further developing our character to bring more detail to when we did the quiz.  Wednesday 28th September 2022 We started the lesson off with getting told by Kelly we had to freshen our characters because we were told our characters were going out to find a date. So I pretended 'Roger' (My characters name) was putting on a tie and suit and doing his hair and putting aftershave on. We then

Thursday 15th September 2022 - Starting as a duologue  We were told to get into pairs as we were given a script for a duologue. I paired up with Jack and our script was called 'Breaking and Entering'. The script is about 2 guys who are trying to steal evidence for the police.  We were told to pick if we wanted to be 'Person A' or 'Person B'. I'm 'Person A' and Jack is 'Person B'. Our task was to read over the script and perform it in our pairs, after which our homework was to give our person a name an age and how they react to the situation they are in.  I learnt from the homework for this lesson how to bring a character to life by adding some of my own context to the piece as to how we think they got in the situation they were in. Also by giving my character a name and age and how I can base there reaction to the situation due to the age I have given them and the way the lines were written.  Thursday 22nd September 2022 - Backstory In this l

Copy Cat Project

Thursday 15th September 2022 - Choosing our scene Today we got our first project which was to find some film students and some actors from our class and come with a scene that we need to copy. At first there was 4 of us and we had the idea of doing a scene from the one of the 'Back to the Future' films. We decided later on when Jack joined our group that we were going to do a scene from the film 'White Chicks' instead specifically the scene where they meet the girls' friends ( White Chicks - Meeting their friends - YouTube ). In our group we had Jack (who was Brittany from the scene), Elliott (Karen), Kiera (Tori), Ash (Lisa) and me (Tiffany). Our film makers were also Josh and Casey from the 2nd year. The deadline to complete his project was for the end of first term.  What I took away from this lesson was that I got to work with people I hadn't worked with before and to talk to someone else who doesn't act but is into film work.  Thursday 22nd September 20

During the next couple of weeks, we did a lesson with Kane on body language and facial expressions where we had to watch 2 clips without sound to identify changes in the actors' facial expressions and body language and say what emotion it was, we thought they were portraying. After watching both clips we were then tasked to get into small groups no larger than 4 and come up with a piece where we were not allowed to speak and then prevent them to the 2nd years.  I worked with Taron, Will and Zia where we came up with the idea of an MMA match where I was fighting Zia. I first had to act cocky till when I was hit and my whole mood changed to confusion and anger.  Our first lesson in the theatre was on improv, we started off with some warm up activities to get everyone awake and then moved onto the task we were given, which was that everyone was given a slip of paper with a line on it. We had to enter the circle 1 by 1 when the time was right to try and fit our line in the running them

The Start of Something Great

So, the first couple of weeks of college was sort of a taster to what the course was going to be like. It was also to meet new people who are also interested in acting and to meet the tutors of the course. At the end of the very first week, we got a homework task where we had to either write about a specific actor or a film that has inspired us to take on acting, I wrote about Harrison Ford and focused on films like Indiana Jones and Star Wars.
