Stuff Rehearsals / Mini Evaluation

Thursday 8th February For stuff today after the cast list had came out, we all met up in the black box room and got our scripts handed to us so we could start working on going through lines. Today was just the read through, so I decided to read ahead as AJ doesn't come into it until after quite a few pages. I noted that when he does come into the show though he doesn't leave once and he has a lot of lines dotted around and a big duologue with Matt when they're having their moment. So I already saw the challenge as I wasn't going to have any time to go off stage and have a quick read over of a line of a script that is backstage I just need to be ready and know my queue lines so I don't end up going silent as it would make things awkward and then when I end up messing up one line I start to mess up the next few that follow after.  So I was getting ahead to already familiarise myself with lines and how thinking of ways that I could do the opening, we managed to do a fu

Audition Process - Unit 12 extended project

Audition The audition process for One Flew Over was different this time around because instead of doing a monologue from the script, for the certain character we wanted, we had to make our own acting CV's as well as get updated head shots and find our own monologues. My monologue ended up being from a script called 'Peoples, places and things,' this wasn't the first monologue I had in mind though. The first monologue I was thinking about doing was Joey's monologue from Jim Cartwright's 'road' script. My main reason for steering away from this monologue was because I was having a hard time connecting with the piece and understanding it. I ended up asking around if anyone had good ways to look for monologues from contemporary pieces as I wanted mine to be from a stage show. I got some websites sent to me from a friend last year who was on our course and that's how I found the right monologue that was exactly what I wanted and could connect with as well

One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest Project Proposal - Unit 12 extended project

Section 1: Rationale (approx. 100 words) Since coming to the college, I had no acting prior and no experience I wasn’t really researched on much as well. So, throughout my two years on this course I have learnt about practitioners and their certain methods that we have utilized into our warm-ups and performances. I have grown more confident with myself and improved my skills throughout the years for example improvisation being a big improvement. I have learnt how to find monologues and learn them easily, I have learnt the difference between stage and screen and what auditions in the industry will be like. During the course as well, I have done production roles since that is also part of my qualification, so I have learnt the behind the scenes that acting offers as well. I have undergone auditions at University as that is my next step and I am looking at going to a University that focuses more on the screen side of acting instead of the sta

Unit 9 Task 4 - 2 Year Evaluation

In my year one journey I mentioned about things that I could work on / improve and range of which roles I haven't really had to express yet. We started off the second year with a bunch of improvisation warm-ups to get us ready for ghost light tours: a night with Burke and Hare. For this year of ghost light we started off strong, by devising and researching for the show, we were in groups and would have to get our own information that we could incorporate into the show. This was already more than what we did last year as we came up with our own ideas but we didn't go into the level of detail like this year. We worked on duologues and started off with looking for Shakespeare monologues for Universities and we all had our own directing projects we were apart of. We also got told that for our Christmas show this year it would be a musical, so already what I wanted to work on / improve in second year was underway. For our duologues since we hadn't done them in first year we were

Unit 9 Task 1 - First Year Journey

Throughout my journey in first year, I have played a vast array of characters which have both developed my current skill set, all having types of different ranges to them. When I first started the course however, I was a very shy person who hadn't really opened up to anyone and didn't know what I would be getting myself into with this industry but I knew it was what I wanted to do. So, for the first couple weeks I was relatively quiet and felt awkward always getting involved. We did many lessons throughout the year like acting for camera and improvisation. I also took part of a writing group for the National Theatre where I wrote a script with my friend Will about two guys who get PTSD after coming back from the war. When our first show came around, 'The Ghost Light Tours', I put myself straight into the deep end and decided to audition for a major character being the bartender in hopes it would maybe boost my confidence and take away some of the awkwardness doing warm-
