Improving Duologue Skills

Image
Dear Evan Hansen Tuesday 19th September Today we were given a duologue from a scene in Dear Evan Hansen, the scene is an argument between Evan and his mum. I paired up with Millie Trodden, for now we were tasked with just reading through it and going over what we think is happening and how each character is reacting to one another.  We got tasked with going away and digging deep into the scene to find out the story and the context of what is going on. Just from the duologue alone I can see that the mother cares about him a lot and is trying her hardest but Evan always paints her as in the wrong because of how much she works. His mum feels like she is losing him to another family which she calls "these people" insinuating that they're strangers to her to which Evan says "they're not these people." Tensions are at an all time high from what I could pick out but its not constant shouting part of it is just truth that needs to be said in a manner that like stabs

Research For The Globe

Image
We are doing another tour at The Globe and this time I've sort of took on a little preparation role for it, trying to find links between each category that we have. For the lead up to it we have been doing a lot of improvisation work around death and mystery, trying to get the creative side of our brains flowing.  Thursday 14th September This was the start of the research, I got put in the group where we had to research about children in the mines. I took it upon myself to try and find some Victorian England books in the LRC that might mention about children in the mines. Sadly, there wasn't much information about children being in the mines. So we resorted to using the internet where we found jobs the children would have to do in the mines and we started coming up with stories and little improv pieces we could out together that we could use for The Globe.  Monday 18th September We got put back into our groups and were tasked with adding more information, I went away to the LRC

Peter Pan Preparation

For this years Christmas show were doing Peter Pan: The British Musical. This was going to be an added challenge for me as I didn't think I would be coming here to sing on stage. I know we did some singing last year but that was a 15 minute performance, whereas this is a full musical and learning the songs aren't going to be easy and its going to be a lot to learn with lines and songs, an also added challenges is that some of the songs have the characters just speaking through it as well then it breaks back into the song.  Tuesday 12th September For preparation getting ready for the show the 2nd years have the option to come in early to practice the songs with Tom. We started off with voice warm-ups, to help stretch our vocals to reduce the risk of tension, damage and voice loss. We use it for singing to help smooth out our vocal breaks and improve our range.  Tom started off by going through the songs and telling us which characters would sing them songs, also showed us which
