The Tree Film

'The Tree' is a short film about two people who wake up chained to a tree with a walkie talkie taped above their heads. The character I play is a lad called Kyle who at a party had previously accidentally killed someone due to a drug overdose. Charley plays Eleanor another teen at the party who was present at time of the murder and was kidnapped due to the masked man thinking it was one of us. Mark played the masked man who was heavily inspired from John Kramer and even referenced in the script, since he chains us to the train and gets us to play a game so that he can find out who killed the guy at the party so he can then kill them. For Kyles costume I was told to wear an old tracksuit so I wore my blue tracksuit with a grey coloured shirt. 

Thursday 18th May

We made our way to Preston Park where we find a tree with a new beautiful view with a river in the background. We got straight to me and Charley getting chained to the tree and did the scenes in chronological order as that is how Martin (the director) had planned it out on his script. My character starts already woken up and calm as he has had his panic off camera and it starts with Eleanor waking up and me reacting to her not being dead as she was unconscious for a long time. A lot of the film is just between me and Charley since Mark is never seen he's only heard on the walkie talkie which was sometimes not consistent enough to hear him all the time. We managed to get up to get 5 scenes done out of 8 since we couldn't film the last 3 due to not having the final prop which was the gun I use to kill the masked man. 

Friday 19th May

Today we had got the tree finished and I can not wait to see the final product since I think it is going to be amazing. We finished off the final 3 scenes which are the scenes where I confess and let Eleanor escape, to then have a gun pointed to my head but it doesn't scare me instead I tell him to 'fuck off'. I also played it risky by moving closer to the edge of the river as I thought it would make for a nice shot of Mark over me and me nearly in the river. Charley then attacks and tackles Mark to the ground who drops the gun by me as I grab it and shoot him. I then walk away from situation in shock and fear in what I had just done leaving Eleanor on the ground who chases after me staggering away as we both walk off from the situation.

Throughout my journey in first year, I have played a vast array of characters which have both developed my current skill set, all having types of different ranges to them. When I first started the course however, I was a very shy person who hadn't really opened up to anyone and didn't know what I would be getting myself into with this industry but I knew it was what I wanted to do. Audition Process - Unit 12 extended project

Audition The audition process for One Flew Over was different this time around because instead of doing a monologue from the script, for the certain character we wanted, we had to make our own acting CV's as well as get updated head shots and find our own monologues. My monologue ended up being from a script called 'Peoples, places and things,' this wasn't the first monologue I had in mind though. The first monologue I was thinking about doing was Joey's monologue from Jim Cartwright's 'road' script. My main reason for steering away from this monologue was because I was having a hard time connecting with the piece and understanding it. I ended up asking around if anyone had good ways to look for monologues from contemporary pieces as I wanted mine to be from a stage show. I got some websites sent to me from a friend last year who was on our course and that's how I found the right monologue that was exactly what I wanted and could connect with as well

Unit 9 Task 4 - 2 Year Evaluation

In my year one journey I mentioned about things that I could work on / improve and range of which roles I haven't really had to express yet. We started off the second year with a bunch of improvisation warm-ups to get us ready for ghost light tours: a night with Burke and Hare. For this year of ghost light we started off strong, by devising and researching for the show, we were in groups and would have to get our own information that we could incorporate into the show. This was already more than what we did last year as we came up with our own ideas but we didn't go into the level of detail like this year. We worked on duologues and started off with looking for Shakespeare monologues for Universities and we all had our own directing projects we were apart of. We also got told that for our Christmas show this year it would be a musical, so already what I wanted to work on / improve in second year was underway.
