Assignment 3: Task 5: Evaluation
The hardest part of this connections show was definitely trying to implement the flashbacks into the show and all of the younger cast keeping energy up for the entire show. The whole process has been phenomenal, I couldn't of asked for a better ensemble / team to work with we brought this show to life to the best of our ability and couldn't of been done without the help of our debuting director Morgan. He worked hard to make sure his cast was ready for everything, he got us in early and kept us back so that he could push us to really excel at what were good at. He put all his belief into every one of us, especially A'layah who was Tom Joy, she was an amazing adaptation of the character and I couldn't of asked for a better person to portray as she really got into it and tried her hardest so that everyone could bounce off of her and keep it flowing. There was a scene where we both made a joke about the same thing but we hyped each other and high-fived after we had said it to show how well we worked together. There were a couple of problems on show day, I kept running into curtains when trying to get off stage which annoyed me a little and I accidentally made the mistake of showing my annoyance to the audience, so that's something I need to work on, I also stuck with the scream that I did when the door was shut as it really fit into the scene and made it come to life and be more real and believable, as it showed the threat we were in and it showed the genuine fear in all of us in how I delivered my line fast but also clear but with a distinct tone of being scared. We all worked hard going through costume trying to match our partners as well as having certain 1 to 1 lessons with Morgan so that he could analyse and improve the younger scenes for us as there were points where we were lacking since it was very flat. But we all exceeded amazingly and we showed on the night that we can portray 13 year olds, it was also amazing how we went off and came up with this show without the help of Kelly to show her that no matter what were committed towards the role we want and the show. Some things I could improve if I was too do it again would be to not so how visually annoyed I was too the audience when I kept running into the curtains, it would also to be to try not get as nervous when delivering my first couple lines, as whenever I perform my nerves take over me for the first few lines and I normally stutter but luckily I didn't stutter I just had my heart pounding and nearly forgot my line as the realisation hit me, I managed to relax into the role and I stopped shaking as much and was a lot more bouncy which I needed to be. We all could of worked better to try not to skip over lines as much as there was a fair few pinnacle lines we missed in certain scenes. Overall, I really enjoyed this process from day 1, I was all on board for it and it showed off when we all performed an outstanding show.
