Pretty Woman
Monday 6th February
On this day we put back into Tom's dance studio with the higher education students to go over the blocking of pretty women. We started off with the singing warm ups we had done before when working with Tom. We then split into 3 groups to continue the warm ups going but having a different group sing a warm up song all at the same time. Then we moved onto getting to understand the tune and lyrics for the song which was a weird one. We went over this a couple of times to get a feel for what it would be like before moving into something simple to block it out with. The blocking was only simple because majority of us can't dance so they didn't want to do anything too extreme for us since I was already struggling with the simple version as I kept getting my hands and feet swaying the wrong direction all the time and was behind everyone else. After we had finished the swaying in our groups we formed 2 circles and circled around the woman in the middle to which when it got to a certain sound in the song we would all slowly fall to the floor still singing, then wait for Delroy to stand up and escort the woman around as to which we would need to improvise a reaction to it, so we had Harvey pretend he was fainting after she blew him a kiss so that me and Jack could catch him.

We ended up polishing the rest of the blocking off and showing it to the people who missed out on the first week due to filming, so we could then fit them into what we had planned. Majority of us had learnt the song ready for the occasion it was just a bit flat when rehearsing it since there were some who still didn't know it or people who had just joined us didn't know either, luckily the higher education team were going to be standing in the background with microphones on since they weren't doing the blocking they were working more on getting the song lyrics on point. After we had finished off polishing the rest of the blocking we started talking about costumes, what time period were we in, what time we were meeting and what we were wearing. It was around late 1980s early 90s clothing so like denim or suits for the boys (which is what I came in).
Tuesday 14th February
Today was performance day and we had to arrive at the link next to the globe in costume, ready for our first performance of it since we had 2 on the day. We spoke about what was going and what the roses were for and what to do before the music kicks in. We were told as soon as we had finished we had to go grab a rose and offer them around to people on the street explaining what they were used for, which was that each rose had a QR code that sent them to a website to gain early access tickets for when Pretty Woman comes to the globe. We made our way round to Wellington Square in Stockton town centre because this was where we were doing it. We then all got into position and waited for the music to start and when it did we started our performance there were a few mumbles for the song since some of us still didn't know it and a couple of us rushing since we weren't at our spots on time. But after we had finished the first performance we grabbed a rose and started to hand them out. While going to get something for lunch we saw that Callum and Emie were doing a photo shoot and we got asked by Kelly that since we had suits on we could join, the camera man instructed us to follow behind Emie and stick our hand out trying to grab her attention instead of letting the other guys grab her attention. After lunch we got ready for the final show where again it was the same but the singing was much better.I enjoyed being apart of this since we got to help out the globe again and build a stronger connection with a theatre so they could hopefully come to us for any more opportunities that arise. It was nice to work with different people like the higher education students as the last time we worked together was on the Christmas Community Concert. It was also nice to work with the community as a whole and put smiles on peoples faces when handing them the roses.
