The Globe Immersive Performance

Image
My character We had spent the last six weeks researching, auditioning and rehearsing our immersive Globe performance. I had already gone and pushed myself from my role last year which was a slapstick comedy piece with Will where we were part of the vaudeville theatre segment of the tour. This year I wanted to go for a tour guide but the thought of having to answer questions would make me buckle under pressure. So I decided to go for a role that was more in the face of the audience but still had more to say than what I did last year so that I could still feel like I was pushing myself. I went for the insurance broker working with the Mary Ann Cotton's. I knew from the start my character was sort of a narrator who was very factual so I knew I had to learn the facts and make sure I get them right just incase someone potentially notices I made an error.  I knew for the insurance broker he would have important documents and be smartly dressed, so I made sure to print out some insurance

Preparing For Progression Assignment

For this assignment it was cut into three tasks. Monologue The first task was to do with monologues where for Uni's we need to have at least 2 classical and 2 contemporary monologues. We started off the lessons with classical monologues or Shakespeare monologues. We only had to learn one and have the other as a spare that we could learn later down the line for Uni auditions. The Shakespeare monologue I had chosen was from Julius Caesar, it's from Act 1 Scene 2 of the show and it is Cassius' monologue to Brutus where he is trying to get him to join him in his plan to kill Caesar. The monologue is written as Cassius is telling a story to Brutus about when him and Caesar where younger and he had to save his life, yet Caesar has then become a god and rules them all whereas Cassius must bow down to him whenever Caesar nods on him. He is telling the story to Brutus to make Caesar look weak, and that anyone like him or Brutus could easily kill this so called "god". The

Tuesday 3rd October Today after our Dear Evan Hansen duologues, we got given the opportunity to choose from three stage shows and in that group we would spend the next couple of weeks directing or acting out the first few pages/scenes of the show. I chose to go with The Curious incident of The Dog in The Night-Time. We had a read through in our group and analysed the script a little bit like from what we had learnt the week before. I knew this was going to be a challenge going into this as it the main character has severe autism and it's something you don't want to get wrong incase you offend someone.  Monday 9th October Today was the first real look at it in our group as a whole, Jess wants to direct it and so came up with the idea to hold mini auditions for the roles. So we had a read through again with everyone this time and all gave 2 options for what we would like to audition for then we would do auditions and chemistry reads.  My 2 options out of the characters that are t

Audition For The Globe experience this year I wanted to push myself and go for a more involved speaking role. My first role idea was to go for the one of the tour guides, as it would have been a very big stretch from what I did previously which was a short comedy piece that I performed with Will in the style of Charlie Chaplin. The tour guides run the tour and take the audience around The Globe answering questions if asked any and always having really good knowledge depending on what is about to happen. At first I was working with Elliott, for the tour guides we had been tasked to go and create a duologue showing that we understand the characters we are going for. My only main problem is that I didn't feel comfortable with answering questions because I wouldn't feel like I would know all the research when i'm supposed to or I would buckle under the pressure incase I  accidentally get something wrong.  So my next choice was the Insurance Broker for Mary Ann Cotton. For the a
